The Drop Off
A relatively small streetscape presence conceals a larger dwelling, stacked to the west in response to the steeply sloping site. This drop in topography opens up expansive views of Middle Harbour and the skyline of the CBD beyond. The central entry to the dwelling leads to a split level staircase, pulling your line of sight through a large void space to framed views to the spit bridge from the upper 2 levels. The void creates a feeling of space and visual connection, while drawing light into the house. The living space has a dual aspect, taking in both the western view via a cantilevered outdoor terrace and a leafy eastern courtyard providing a more intimate space for gathering or private contemplation.
