Riverview House 4
An extruded building form is proposed to open up to tree tops above a rocky outcrop adjacent to the Lane Cove River. The linear form is split by courtyards to separate living, sleeping and service areas and to allow winter sun penetration into adjoining spaces. Native vegetation and rock outcrops extend between and around the split form of the building from the bushland below in order to relate the largely suspended building to the ground. Although broken into parts, the roof provides continuity to the linear arrangement. Its alignment is visually continuous - kicking up and sloping down where needed to allow volume, view and sunlight. The roof becomes wall and suspends above the lower portions of the building to breakdown bulk and add visual strength to the roof. Views from the building are paramount whether they be views from secondary spaces into smaller external areas or river views through the trees from main areas. We are looking forward to developing this project into 2022.
