Riverview House 2
The sites irregular shape and generous front boundary width provide an opportunity for a single form to be segregated by a northern courtyard, which penetrates through at the ground level and links through to the rear. The two fragments are then linked by a linear off-form concrete element which forms a garden roof over the northern end of the house and continues to visually wrap around the ground floor and encapsulate the timber clad 2 storey portion. The L-shaped form provides openings to a north facing rear garden and pool area from multiple Living spaces at the ground level, which is protected by a series of mature native trees filtering the harsh western sunlight.
The upper level envelope sits within a garden roof, and focuses itself largely to the private north-western aspect. The Master Bedroom and Study anchor each end of the upper level through protected curved glass windows looking through the canopies of the mature trees beyond.
The house has been designed for a fast track approval under Complying Development legislation.
